Learn basic origami techniques to create paper flowers and baskets.

Lazy Valentine & White Day Event
Date: Saturday, March 28th, 2026
Times: 1-6 pm
Location: Rockella Midtown, 520 8th Ave, 24th Floor, New York, NY 10018
As part of Rockella Midtown Open House, NRAC presents Lazy Valentine and White Day Event, inspired by Japan’s sweet “return the favor” holiday. The day is a relaxed, hands-on series of workshops dedicated to making meaningful, handmade gifts for loved ones.
White Day is a holiday in Japan that’s gotten popular in Asian countries, where people who got presents during Valentine’s can reciprocating and show their feelings through white theme presents like white chocolate or trinkets, symbolizing purity and return of affection.
Participants will learn basic origami techniques to create paper flowers and baskets, experiment with collage to build memory albums or personalized boards, and explore hand-sewn paper messages using simple stitching methods. For those interested in adding dimension, we will demonstrate how to incorporate subtle 3D elements into album pages.
A wood engraving machine will also be available for participants who wish to create carved gifts; attendees simply need to bring the wooden surface they would like to engrave.
This is a calm, process-oriented gathering — light snacks will be provided, and no prior experience is necessary. All materials (aside from optional personal photos or wood surfaces) will be supplied.
No prior experience is necessary, and all materials will be provided. Suggested donation welcome!
