RRASP Artist studio Opportunities
(In partnership with Rockella Space)
Program Overview
Artist Opportunities
- Fully Subsidized Residency
- A three or six months, fully funded studio residency
- Partially Subsidized Studios
- Selected artists may receive partial rent subsidies.
- Subsidies vary based on demonstrated need and available funding.
- Studio Rentals
- Artists may rent studio spaces (100–300 sq ft) directly through Rockella Space, outside of the residency programs.
- Rolling availability, separate from RRASP application process.

- Artist Talks & Public Engagements: Organized by RRASP
- Workshop Leadership: Opportunities for residents to lead workshops and skill-shares
- Studio Visits: Curated one-on-one visits with curators and arts professionals coordinated by RRASP
- Final Group Exhibition: Curated by RRASP, hosted at Rockella Space (January 2026) (open to fully and partially subsidized artists)
- Community Events: Integration into Rockella Space’s artist community through openings, panels, and events
What We're Looking For
RRASP welcomes applications from emerging and mid-career artists across disciplines. We prioritize experimental, engaged, and innovative practices that contribute to a dynamic arts community.
Selection Process
- RRASP organizes the application review and juried selection process for subsidized residencies and studio subsidies.
- Rockella Space handles general studio rentals separately on a first-come, first-served basis.

- Studios: Range from 100–300 sqft

- 1. Artist Talks – Residents engage the public through talks and discussions about their practice.
- 2. Open Studios – Residents open their studios to the public, offering insight into their creative process.
- 3. Workshop Opportunity – Artists are invited to offer a workshop during their residency.
- 4. Studio Visits – Opportunities for one-on-one critiques and networking with industry professionals.
- 5. Exhibitions – A curated group exhibition is held in October to showcase residents’ work.
- 6. Studio Time – Artists are expected to spend at least 20 hours per week in their studios.
Additional Opportunities
- Discounted Studios – Option to lease the studio at a discounted rate after the residency concludes.
Jury Selection
A distinguished jury (TBD) comprising curators, artists, and cultural professionals will oversee the selection process.

Curator In Residence Program 2025
Program Overview
RRASP offers a dynamic 3‑month free residency program in Ridgewood, Queens, for a New York–based curator. This program supports the curator by providing resources, opportunities to build relationships with the Artist‑in‑Residence and Rockella Space members, and the chance to create a group exhibition at the end of the residency.
Residency Structure
- Office: A designated office at Rockella Space in Ridgewood, Queens
- Residency Duration: Begins July 1st and runs for four months, ending October 30th, 2025
- Stipend: $1,000
Program Features
- 1. Curator Talk – Opportunity to engage the public with a talk about the curator’s practice.
- 2. RRASP Artist – Work closely with the five artists selected for the RRASP Summer program.
- 3. Rockella Space Members – Access to over 300 artists with studios at Rockella Space’s locations in Queens, Brooklyn, and Manhattan for one-on-one critiques.
- 4. Workshop Opportunity – Opportunity to present a workshop during the residency.
- 5. Group Exhibition – Collaborate with RRASP Artists to curate a group exhibition in October. The curator will also prepare a curatorial statement and a press release.
- 6. Studio Time – Artists are expected to spend at least 20 hours per week in their studios.
